Chinese consumers in the 16-30 age group spend 22 per cent more time on their mobile phones daily compared with the global figure, a latest study showed.
In China, the average consumer aged between 16 and 30 with Internet access spends 3.9 hours a day on their mobile devices, 22 per cent higher than the global average of 3.2 hours a day, according to the "Connected Life" study of 2,000 Chinese consumers by market research consultancy TNS.
Globally, the study covered over 60,000 Internet users in 50 countries and regions.
The survey found that 84 per cent of Chinese consumers in the 16 - 30 age group use instant messaging daily compared with the global average of 69 per cent. Consumers in this age group are also big users of mobile payment as 12 per cent in China said they're willing to do so, compared with 8 per cent globally.
Meanwhile, consumers aged between 46 and 65 tend to hold on strongly to traditional media habits. They spend 2.3 hours each day watching TV, reading newspapers and listening to the radio, 1.5 hours more than the average level for the 16-30 age group.
